Credit to my friend Gina for the clever name for our casual art workshop-plus-dessert-bar series (it’s a series now because we’ve had 2! And there’s a third planned for August now on bookmaking…).
Here were the recipes this time. They were all pretty good, but I think the favorites were the blackberry tart and the buckwheat cake, the latter of which is GF and vegan to boot, if you need a recipe along those lines: I do not and wouldn’t have saved it to try if I had known it was GF; I find GF baked goods generally to be a waste of my effort b/c they taste like sand. But David Lebovitz knows what he’s doing.
- Brown butter blackberry cream tart
- Makroud (date-filled semolina cookies)
- Ruffled milk pie
- Pecan pralines
- Buckwheat chocolate tahini marbled bundt cake with chocolate glaze
The linocuts were really fun. We cut our designs on soft-cut blocks, which was quick and easy, and printed both paper notecards and cotton tea-towels. Folks turned out some really amazing designs! If you want a run-down on the best inks for paper and fabric, plus other tips for linocut printing, I recommend this blog.
