If some people can be called clothes-horses, I’m a perfume-horse. I wear it pretty much daily (though only in amounts you can smell if you’re me or hugging me). Fragrance preferences are super personal, but here are the houses and review sites I’ve had good luck with:
- Fragrantica. A great, well-written and researched site with tons of reviews that lets you log and rate perfumes for testing or buying: this is where I keep my whole collection virtually.
- Now Smell This: great reviews and industry notes.
- Chandler Burr: Former perfume critic for the New York Times. My favorite fragrance writer and journalist.
- Christian Dior: I usually like at least 50% of the scents they put out–mostly the unisex or male perfumes.
- Yves Saint-Laurent: A bit girly for me overall, but I have worn several of their day perfumes.
- Diptyque: I own several of theirs
- Histoires de Parfums: Really unique and unusual scents
- Illuminated Perfume: She does a really nice series of California natural scents–live oak, cedar, savannah, etc. Good longevity and sillage for a natural perfume–and pretty shelf-stable as well.
