Yesterday afternoon we kayaked about 4 km to Wotschofska for some Hefeplinsen (yummy yeast-risen German pancakes, served at Wotschofska either with applesauce or cinnamon/butter/sugar). Sadly, they were closed for spring renovations! On the way back, though, we got to go through two of these cool self-service Schleusen (locks) that allow kayaks to navigate small rapids here in the canal system in Spreewald. Birgit and Tasja are up there (wo)manning the lock gates.
Tasja and Ruth also entertained me by blocking this little side canal cheekily named the Suez with their kayak in a micro-recreation of the Ever Given blocking the real Suez. If you want to join in the fun, you can try out this simulator where you can drop the Ever Given into various waterways around the world to see if you can block them.
