“Living In” was an old series on (the awesome but now sadly defunct) Design*Sponge where different contributors would put together collages (I guess the kids are calling them “mood boards” these days) that brought to life the ambience of a particular movie or book. Here I’m taking it a little more literally and designing houses that I’d like to live in, at least for a while–some of which were indeed inspired by books or movies. This first one is sort of a mash-up of high-end modern Korean houses from various K-dramas and K-movies I watched, but if I had to narrow down the style, it might be a weekend retreat for Lee Yeonjae (the impeccably tailored but somewhat unscrupulous chaebol president from Stranger/Stranger 2).
Looking to “furnish” my imaginary villa was a really enjoyable experience because it made me discover some beautiful Korean homewares and artists. Enjoy!
