Friday Favorites: Feedly Clean-up

This one’s heavy on cute animal memes that should be nice unicorn chasers for our current omicron state of mind:

  • This momma ferret seems pretty sure her human is one of her babies.
  • I’ve always been fascinated by meteorites, and so I’m looking forward to watching this documentary on them by my favorite wackadoodle director, Werner Herzog.
  • Get yourself psyched up for those looming midterm elections with this charming How-to on voting by Demi Adejuyigbe (comedian and writer on The Good Place).
  • Awesome op-doc on a 96-year-old Holocaust survivor who started a late-life gig as a heavy metal singer.
  • Um, I don’t even know how to blurb this short video: just watch it.
  • See, turns out everything those baseball players were yelling on the field was much cleaner than you thought (MLB: A Bad Lip Reading)
  • This excellent, understated short documentary on the cultural significance of heavy metal on the Navajo/Diné reservation has a companion piece in High Country News.
  • In my experience, Heidi Swanson is not wrong about sauces: “7 Magic Sauces You Should Know About” (101 Cookbooks).
  • I sincerely hope the Redwood City Parks employee who designed this Coyote Warning Sign got a sizable Christmas bonus.
  • My mom’s cousin’s mom collected glass apples (they were apple farmers); I have a vivid image of the collection glittering in all colors on a high windowsill but am pretty sure it’s a fabricated memory based on stories I was told when I was little. At any rate, that’s the first thing I thought of when I saw this cool article on ghost apples.
