Here are some things I was saving about corvids that turned out to be pretty fun: Josh Klein’s crow vending machine and citizen-science Crowbox project (I really want to build one). And, The Ravenmaster, a rollicking and heartwarming memoir by the guy who’s currently in charge of the Tower of London ravens.
If you’re not yet familiar with Kate Wagner’s McMansion Hell, you need to be. It’s a great resource for learning the basics of residential architecture–by observing houses built by architects who did NOT know the basics of residential architecture…. And this is a great place to start: her 50 States of McMansion Hell series, Texas Edition (naturally, there had to be more than one installment for this state….)
I wish I could take pictures like this with my iPhone…. Mostly, I’m in it for the Miyagi Fox Village pic; that looks just like my dog, Rye!
I’m a total sucker for videos like this one: 50 Useful Facts about Japan. Plus, I like these kids; I’ve watched several of their other videos, like the one where they take aikido lessons for the first time….
Heavy Trip: I’ve seen this movie; it’s freakin’ hilarious.
Sobering and really interesting: NOAA’s sea-level rise simulator. See what will happen to your favorite beaches under various climate-change scenarios (spoiler alert: they’re gone).
